A collection of songs old and new that revel in the strummed acoustic guitar sound – which I love. There’ll be drums, bass and Hammond. Maybe a little Stratocaster thrown in. I think there’s something joyful about acoustic strumming or “a firmly struck guitar” as the great John Peel once said. It’s a sound that never grows old. Buddy Holly used it many times. So did the Beatles. So do many musicians today. No VST instruments. The real thing.
The title came to me out of the blue, but I think it refers to the trips my father took me on in his truck from Portsmouth to London in England. We would stop at rough and ready “lorry drivers” cafés, and he would let me feed the Juke Box. Amazing.
No tracks ready as I write, but coming soon.
